Parking and Transportation

All current students attending the University of Mississippi will have the option to purchase a parking hangtag. Students may register their vehicle and purchase a hangtag beginning on July 1 each year for the upcoming Fall and Spring semesters.

There are three types of commuter hangtags available:

Park & Ride

  • $88 hangtag for students living off campus
  • Park in exterior lots and ride express shuttle into campus
  • Faster, convenient and more reliable than searching for a commuter designated lot

Commuter (traditional) (View Map)

  • $175 hangtag for students living off campus who are not residents of Campus Walk apartment complex
  • Allows parking in designated commuter lots, park-n-ride, and open parking lots

Students living on campus will be issued a hangtag based on housing accommodations.

Additional Transportation Options

With a newly expanded bus system, bike lanes, sidewalks, and a new bike-share program, you no longer need a car to get around Oxford and Ole Miss easily and conveniently. In fact, the many options now available make other forms of transportation often more convenient than driving.

Oxford University Transit System

The City of Oxford and the University of Mississippi worked together to create the Oxford University Transit (OUT) system, which now covers most of Oxford. The OUT bus provides a public transportation system that currently covers the Oxford area with five bus routes.

The Oxford University Transit (OUT) system is free for all students, faculty and staff members at the University of Mississippi with a valid UM ID and is available for use by visitors for $1 per ride.

The Blue, Purple, Red, Yellow, and Green routes come on campus to drop off and pick up passengers near the Student Union and many other locations. In addition to the five routes, Gold and Brown routes carry commuters from parking lots to center of the campus. There is also a route that runs from the Lyceum to the Square. Rebel Pedals Bike-Sharing Program

Rebel Pedals is the bicycle sharing program of the University of Mississippi. Rebel Pedals was established to make the quality of student life better by giving students affordable, environmentally sustainable, and increased access to bicycles, a healthy alternative to driving a car. The mission is to promote bicycling as a desirable means of transportation in a greater effort to strengthen a culture of sustainability on campus.

By providing an accessible, cost-effective bike loan program to the University of Mississippi community, Rebel Pedals provides a convenient way to get to class, encourages off-campus exploration, and promotes a healthy body and environment. Rebel Pedals is sponsored by the Associated Student Body, the Division of Student Affairs, and the Office of Campus Sustainability.

Biking in Oxford – Oxford Pathways Commission

The city of Oxford has made a dedicated effort to become a safe place to bike and walk.  The Oxford Pathways Commission was formed to plan, create, and enhance bike and pedestrian routes.  Their hard work was recently recognized when the League of American Bicyclists designated Oxford a Bicycle Friendly Community at the bronze level.  For more information including a map of existing routes, visit
